Little old me??

We interrupt this regularly scheduled blog post with breaking news. Little old WasItForThis has been given an INCREDIBLY (ha) prestigious award. And not just any old incredibly prestigious award - a fancy Italian award. I think that makes me internationally recognized. Behold:

I know. It's so shiny. See the sparkles? I used my amazing internet research skills (aka Google Translate) to find out that Brillante Weblog translated into English means Smart um... Weblog. So I'm smart - yay! Premio, in case you're wondering, means Prize. So, Smart Blog Prize 2008 - woohoo! This is feeling strangely similar to the time I won the Sorority President of the Year award in college. Except that time I was drunk in a bar instead of at the awards reception so someone had to accept it on my behalf. In my own defense, I didn't know I was up for the award. And hey, it was senior year.

Anyway, I am deeply honored that Danielle over at Rage in the A.M. found this new blogger worthy of an award. She is an expat American having all sorts of fun adventures with her (very cute, if I do say so!) boyfriend over in South Korea. Color me jealous.

So if you don't know this about me yet, you should - I love rules. LOVE them. HATE breaking them. If the sign says no cell phones, mine will always be on silent. No right on red? I'm hitting the breaks. I think I got all my rebelliousness out around the ages of 16-18 and now I just like to color in the lines. Boring, maybe. But that's just how I roll.

So this super-duper special Italian award comes with rules. Yay! They are as follows:

  • Put the logo on your blog. (Check)
  • Add a link to the person who awarded you. (Check)
  • Nominate at least seven other blogs. (OK, I am actually going to only do 5. I know I know I know, I just told you I don't break rules, but I am running short on time today and I want to spread the love ASAP)
  • Add links to those blogs on your blog.
  • Leave a message for your nominee on their blogs.

It's hard for me to pick just a few blogs I love! My Google reader has been awesomely full lately with all the new blogs I've been discovering. But it must be done, so here they are:

Little Miss Runner Pants
This was one of the first triathlon blogs I stumbled across back in the day (um, like February), when I decided I wanted to try a tri. Reading AJ's experiences of her first marathon and triathlon were really inspiring and made me feel like I could actually do the damn thing. She recently took a brave leap and moved herself down to Austin, TX just for the hell of it. She gets the award for the guts it took to relocate.
Life in Pink
I found Heidi's blog through DCBlogs (yay) at some point last fall when I had nothing to do at work. She blogs about DC, which I absolutely love, and her budding preppiness (Foxfire tells me this is not a word. Oh well), which I also love. She recently got engaged, so she gets the award for good luck with all the wedding planning. Oh and check her out on Wedding Wednesdays - I'm not the kind of single girl who would go out and buy wedding mags, but it can't hurt to check a bloggy friend's wedding planning updates, right? Right?
DC Rainmaker
I admire DC Rainmaker's blog because he is all about one thing - triathlon. While I thought I would blog just about tri, I end up talking about my dog, crap I buy, how much I love the South, and lots of other randomness. While I admire his dedication to the sport and the intense training he's doing for Ironman, DC Rainmaker gets the award for our shared love of Chipotle burritos after a long weekend workout. Period.
The Grosgrain Garage
Lisagh writes all about her crafty escapades - she makes the most amazing hats, aprons, key fobs, table linens, and all sorts of other adorable stuff. I laughed my ass off the other day when she showed us how she just whipped up this reversible headband to wear on the Fourth of July and suggested it was an easy little project - I was just picturing myself trying to whip up anything with a needle. The vision just kept ending with sharp metal embedded in my fingers. She gets the award because she owns 9 pairs of Bonannos, at least 30 different ribbon belts, and whale-embroidered pants. Woot!
Perks of Being a JAP
Lacey, who seems just adorable, allows me to live out my living-in-NYC fantasies. She has an apartment in the Bronx, collects rubber ducks, and has a blog pimped out with purple and pink skull and crossbones - need I say more? She gets the award for recently becoming debt-free - way to go!

So that's it. Enjoy your awards, ladies and gentleman!

oooh, congrats on the award! very exciting!

yay for Jose! I do send little packages sometimes, though not all the time, its expensive! I mailed majlinda two sets of paperdolls and a small book the other day and it was $15! yes, I get letters back, her mother writes them, bc she's only 5 and can't write yet. I sent her a pad of paper and crayons at one time, I am secretly hoping she will draw me a picture and send it :)

maybe send him some matchbox cars? I love the dollar bin at target- they have great things there!

I'm glad Danielle gave this to you, and if she hadn't I so would have. I'm really glad you popped up on my blog and commented because I've been enjoying reading through some of your archives. BTW, may I ask what sorority you're in? Thanks again for the DC tips.. I ran some by my friend and I think we're going to hit up a few of your fave places!
